Two well-known men who have abandoned the full preterist label and adopted the preterist-idealist label are John Noe and Todd Dennis. Both of these men are outstanding scholars. The perspectives of these men differ, and we will attempt to highlight how each sees eschatology.

Preterist Idealism is an interpretive method which comprehensively systematizes biblical typology. A broader label, Modern Idealism, refers to the hermeneutical structure of Preterist Idealism. A narrower label, Metamillennialism, refers to the kingdom theology of both Preterist Idealism and Modern Idealism.

Though full preterist systems don’t deny that spiritual truths can be applied from the events of AD70, the idealist takes exactly the opposite view — that AD70 itself was an application (outward show) of eternal spiritual realities – and was not the Substance in itself.
Reformed Full Preterism must either depart from the Reformed grounding, lead to a Universalist approach, or lead to an Idealist approach.
Judgment came to the world, because all are judged by the gospel and their response to it. It is the SAME WAY that men are judged today. There is no difference, and it continues.
Full Preterists, in order to maintain the integrity of their hermeneutic, choose to take the timeline-based answer (it is new) over the non timeline-based answer with which they also agree (it is not new). However, it is a plain contradiction to have something new that is eternal.
Any theology which looks to the temporal things as its finality, any theology which takes ANY scripture and applies them to the temporal realm, and does not apply them to the spiritual truth behind it for which it was written, is an incorrect theology.
