This coin
was issued by "The
Franklin Mint" in 1974, as a part of their "History
of Mankind" series. On The obverse is
stamped
"Jerusalem
Destroyed and the Jews Lose Their Homeland," whereas
on the reverse it reads "With the destruction of
Jerusalem by the Roman and the burning of their
temple, the Jewish people were forced to leave their
homeland. Persecuted and scattered throughout
the world, the Jews were without a national home for
19 centuries until Israel was formed in 1948."
The "History of
Mankind" collection includes 100 medallions
commemorating the most important events in the
history of civilization. Beautiful
designs and craftmanship have made these medallions
one of the most favorite collections ever produced
by the "Mint". This particular 1000
grain - 24ct. gold plated silver round and weighs a
total of 62.1 grams or 1.997 troy ounces.
